A Born Huntress

Cleo has always fancied herself a huntress. After all, she does have a wonderful sense of smell and is more than happy to spend hours with her nose to the ground checking for anything that may not be acceptable or that needs further investigation. This afternoon was no different.

It was a beautiful afternoon so I grabbed one of the lawn chairs (it reclines and has a pillow - ahhh!), my camera (just in case), and headed for partial shade (my legs could use a little sun to alter their current winter white state). The hounds of course followed me outside so as not to miss a thing. Mabel was content to lay next to me so I could stroke her head, but Cleo quickly followed her born instinct - check the perimeter of the yard for any intrusions or changes. With her head down and tail up, she headed to the side fence, then along the back fence, made a sharp left turn to head toward the garden, and back along the house. Of course, I immediately grabbed my camera to catch the hound in action.

Here she shows perfect form - head down, tail up.

A little stop for a closer investigation.

Hey, did you just take a picture of me? How am I supposed to focus?

Whatever it is, closer investigation is required!

A little scruffing of the grass is sure to bring out the mystery item!

Mission complete, time to survey the yard with pride. Such a lady!

Yes, this is the life of a Basset Hound. So much to smell, so little time. I love these girls with all my heart - they make me smile and make me laugh with their antics. Life wouldn't be the same without them.

So, for this week's quote, a little something from the dog world.

To live is to dance, to dance is to live. --Snoopy

So, this week, let's dance (or at least move our feet a little), because it's hard to not be happy when you're dancing!

Catching Up

Even with the best intentions, travel really messes with my schedule. I'm tired when I get back to my room at night and so the thought of doing anything more than what is required is just that - a thought. And since my job requires quite a bit of travel, I'm often catching up, which is what today is.

I've spent the morning watching TV that I missed, looking at the web sites I follow, and napping. All things that are part of my catch up day. Now I need to add my blog to catch up day :)

As I was cruising blogs and web sites, I found this quote and new it was perfect for this week. Thanks to Jennafer at Zoe Soul Spa who posted this quote (and did my quote search leg work for me!).

“Live with intention. Walk to the edge. Listen hard. Practice wellness. Play with abandon. Laugh. Choose with no regret. Appreciate your friends. Continue to learn. Do what you love. Live as if this is all there is.” --Mary Anne Radmacher

There's so much in this quote that rings true - learning, playing, doing what you love, appreciating friends, and living as if this is all there is. Life is good and should be lived that way too! It's good to be able to start each week fresh and know that I can be or do whatever I choose.

Divine Help

What a crazy week - I didn't even pick out my quote for the week. But sometimes that's the way life is and it's okay. One thing that this week has reminded me is that I can't do everything myself and that my life is guided and directed by a divine hand.

So often I am going a hundred miles an hour doing what I think I need to be doing and then I the reminder - my life has eternal meaning and the things I do today affect my future here on earth and in the life to come. And so this week my quote is a scripture that reminds me that I am not alone and that I can ask for divine help whenever I need it. That He is waiting for me to ask, which I often leave until I'm desperate.

But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. - Matthew 19:26

I am grateful for my beliefs and for the knowledge that there is a plan. Now I just need to remember to ask.
